A "sprout" is the very beginning growth of a seed when it is just starting to begin the process of becoming a plant. Instead of buying sprouts at a grocery store or produce market, you can grow your own! Sprouts are very good for you! SPROUTING SEEDS
Put about 1-2 tablespoons of dried seed into a clean glass quart jar. Instead of the original jar lid, use a flexible piece of screen/mosquito net and a rubber band to top the jar, preventing seeds from falling out while rinsing.
Step 1:
Cover the seeds with water and Aviclens (according to recipe on bottle) and allow them to stand overnight.
Step 2:
Pour out water, or use it to water your plants... it's full of minerals.
Step 3:
Rinse seeds about 2 times a day...make sure sprouts are thoroughly drained. That is, rinse the sprouts but do not let them stand in water. At least once a day the rinse water should contain Aviclens. This is to stop toxic moulds growing.
Step 4:
After about 3 days, the sprouts are ready to eat. Sprouts are inexpensive to manufacture at home and rank among the world's most nutritive substances. You can also sprout any of the budgie seeds using this method. According to research reports, the sprouts contain the highest amount of Vitamin B-12 on the fourth day of germination. Be careful using Wheat, use it only once a week as it can scour the birds.
